On October 15, the third round out of ten of the PSGL x VRT Esports Cup took place at the historical race track of Montmeló, Barcelona.

After two first decent rounds, Team Mentalism heads into Spain being eighth in the championship, 65 points behind Visceral Esports in the lead but keeping up with the field, not far away from the third position. Yoan and Nathan are the two drivers lined up for the team, with the objective of doing a clean team race, in order to climb up some positions in the standings.

In qualifying, both Team Mentalism drivers lockout the 6th row with Nathan qualifying in P11 with a time of 1.15.641, and Yoan sealing P12 with a 1.15.651 laptime. This decent qualifying session for the team means that both drivers are the first one to use the alternate strategy, thus starting the race on mediums.

At the start of the race, Yoan gains a few positions while Nathan is sent spinning by VRT_Guil. Due to the incident, Nathan has damage on his sidepods and rejoins the track being last.

On a stunning pace with the medium tires, Yoan never loses the DRS to the soft runners in front of him. When they all pit by Lap 11, Yoan leads the race and decides to pit on Lap 15 for a new fresh of hard tires. Far away from the field due to his incident, Nathan goes for another strategy as he extends his stint of medium to Lap 24, when he pits for the soft tires.

When everyone has completed their pitstops, Yoan is P4 on the hards while Nathan sits P12 on the softs. Yoan has to battle VSR_Xander, WOR_BARAKA12, OP_Fusillo97, VRT_Guil, OP_NICCO and ET8_ManoloV for P2, who are all on different tires. While no one got an opportunity to go for a move in the last laps, Yoan kept the position and crossed the finish line in P4. Later, a 5 seconds penalty added to WOR_BARAKA12‘s final race time for cutting the pitlane entry confirmed Yoan’s first podium of the season in the PSGL x VRT Esports Cup.

With Yoan sealing P3 and Nathan finishing in P12, Team Mentalism concludes an excellent Spanish Grand Prix allowing the team to score 34 points, gaining 5 positions in the standings as Team Mentalism now sits P3 in the standings after 3 rounds completed. The team will aim to keep this momentum over to the next round in Singapore on October 22, as the fight for P3 looks to take shape between Team Mentalism, WOR Esports and Vortex Racing Team.
